Go with the Snow
Are you planning your first ski holiday? Maybe you’re a snow bunny devoted to holidaying on the slopes. No matter whether you’re a novice planning your first ever trip to the snow or a seasoned snowboarder, we’ve got you covered.
Skiing, snowboarding and other snowsports can be hazardous. For this reason, it’s important to make sure you’ve got appropriate cover in place … just in case!
If your idea of “snowsports” is ice skating, tobogganing and curling, you’re covered under our standard policy. If though you’re off to the slopes for skiing, snowboarding and other outdoor snowsport activities, you’ll need to make sure you select the Snow extension.
This is really important to make sure you activate cover for medical expenses if you hit the slopes a little too hard and hurt yourself. Just remember, there is no cover for treatment of accidental injury on the snowfields if you don’t have the Snow extension added to your policy.
Adding the Snow extension provides cover for medical evacuation from the snowfields, treatment of injuries sustained and repatriation back home if medically necessary to treat your injuries.
In addition to providing cover for injuries you may suffer whilst perfecting your technique, the Snow extension provides a range of other great benefits such as cover for loss, theft or damage to your Snow Sport Equipment, emergency hire if your equipment is lost in transit, reimbursement of lost ski passes and lessons and compensation for piste closure and avalanche.
There’s no doubt that adding snowsport cover to your policy can add a substantial amount to the premium. Unfortunately, this is largely due to the costs associated with evacuating injured skiers from the snowfields, obtaining appropriate medical care and making arrangements for their trip home, often nursing painful injuries such as broken limbs.
At Go Insurance, we believe in flexibility. If you are off to the European, Japanese, Canadian or American snowfields, you can customize your policy a little bit more by selecting the dates you need snowsport cover. If you will be travelling for an extended period of time but only need snowsport cover for a few weeks, you can add the Snow extension for that period only. This is just one way we can help you get the most affordable premium.
So what’s covered under our Snow Sports extension?
Medical Expenses
You’re covered for injuries sustained whilst participating in snowsports. Just remember that we don’t cover all snow related activities and only cover you whilst on piste. If you plan to go off piste, please contact us to discuss your requirements so that we can see if we are able to extend cover.
Snow Sports Equipment
We provide compensation for loss, theft or breakage of your snow sports equipment or any snow sports equipment that has been hired or loaned to you.
Snow Sports Equipment Hire
You’re covered for costs incurred to hire snow sports equipment if yours is damaged or lost in transit en route to your snow destination.
Ski Passes and Lessons
Reimbursement for the cost of your ski passes or lesson vouchers if they are lost or stolen.
Piste Closure / Avalanche
Monetary compensation for each 24 hour period that it is not possible to ski/snowboard and for reasonable additional travel and accommodation expenses necessarily incurred to reach an alternative resort due to a lack of snow, piste closure or avalanche at your pre-booked resort and which causes the closure of snow sport facilities.
